The Breast Cancer Assistance Group of Monterey County (BCAG) is honored to be included in the Monterey County Gives! 2020 fundraising campaign.

BCAG provides assistance to roughly a third of the women in Monterey County struggling financially while undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Recipients range in age from 30 to 81 years old and no qualified applicant is denied help. Unlike national charities, contributions to BCAG stay in our community.

During the last fiscal year BCAG granted over $ 148,000 in emergency assistance to 77 women.  The grant money was used to pay rent, buy food and pay for gas and utilities.  Your generous donation will help the most vulnerable at a most critical time.

The BCAG board of directors is making a challenge grant in an effort to meet our funding target of $30,000. With your donation we can continue to expand our help to breast cancer patients throughout Monterey County.

“I was diagnosed with both endometrial and breast cancer within a two month period requiring surgery and 28 concurrent sessions of radiation treatments. I was exhausted and needed to take an extensive leave of absence from my job. As a recent widow I have limited financial resources. I am very grateful to BCAG for its understanding and help. With their assistance I can continue my recovery without the stress or fear of losing my home.”

About BCAG
BCAG is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization of breast cancer survivors who raise funds and awareness to improve the lives of local breast cancer patients and their families. BCAG provides basic living expenses grants (for food, rent, gas, utilities, etc.) that relieve some of the financial worry associated with breast cancer and allows women (and men) to focus on fighting their disease so they can again spend quality time with family and return to the local workforce. BCAG serves residents of Monterey County who are being treated by physicians located anywhere and residents of Monterey, San Benito or Santa Cruz counties who are being treated by Monterey County physicians.
